1. I Would Be An Awful Music Curator
This blog is still under construction, I just want to update my site...I just want to write about some of my favorite artists and albums. I'm sure it will not be difficult to understand the reason for the title by the end of this post...
And also, this will, likely, be relatively riddled with mistakes and just a rambly blog post.
1.1. Gentle Giant & Other Progressive Rock Bands
In my opinion, Gentle Giant is such an incredibly underrated band... I mean, its not like it isn't by design. They were an extra-experimental progressive rock band that (to my knowledge) only tried going viral once and fell apart... Nevertheless the first time you hear Valedictory, The Face or Runaway... Why drink coffee when can listen to Gentle Giant. The hundredth time you hear their song, you still find a new detail. I also love their cover for The Power And The Glory.
I assume, I will not mention prog rock for the rest of this blog, so I would also like to mention Pink Floyd for having a pretty good shot at being the very best band in history and creating the song Flaming, with the only "Yippee" I can think of through out music in the lyric: "Yippee, you can't see me / But I can you."
As well as Genesis for introducing me to art rock with their album Selling England By The Pound (and later Foxtrot and other albums); Jethro Tull for having, maybe, my favorite album name: Thick As a Brick and The Moody Blues with their album A Question of Balance, which has a such great ideas, that, admitedly, I heard a little too late in my life. And finally, David Bowie for albums, such as: The Rise And Fall Of Ziggy Stardust And The Spiders From Mars or Hunky Dory with the song Changes, which single-handedly flipped* my views on wisdom of older generations. And actually finally, for real this time, The Who with Who's Next and the beautiful musical -- Tommy. Actually, it's surprising how often I started hearing "deaf dumb and blind" after hearing Tommy...
1.2. Anarchy Means I Hate You
A little while ago, I found folk punk and, for a while, it became my favorite genre of all. I guess, it just fit my worldview at the time perfectly... And I would like to say, that NOTHING CHANGED! Hell yeah! PUNKROCKANARCHY! I still like, if not necessarily agree with, their commentary on religion, politics and I just like the perspective on people, morality and all of that good stuff.
Anyways, the main creators of this genre, that I listened to were: Pat The Bunny with, e.g.: The Volatile Utopian Real Estate Market, Mischief Blues with Bakenal, AJJ with People Who Eat People Are The Luckiest People In The World, that is, honestly, straight hopecore... And Johny Hobo & The Freight Trains with their album: Anarchy Means I Hate You, which is perfect when you're down, but not quite low enough (in all the best ways)...
1.3. Breakcore
I have liked raw, gritty, fast-paced and broken up electronic music for a while now. I'm sure a reason why like wlfgirl's music for instance is, because I'm Young Arrogant and Hate Everything You Stand For, which, btw, this album somehow has the best album cover ever.
In the same way, Neutral Milk Hotel's Unknown Demo #1 on YouTube is, for me, the pinicle of the "hidden gem of coal ore" music... The crackling, compressed audio with simple instrumentals and sad, often absurdist, but still deep lyrics...
if I did not mention The Clash in this entire blog. I will, probably, end up note Ghetto Defender in the "spoken lyrics" section.
And lastly... I know, I mentioned Wlfgirl before, but Midori, Sewerslvt and Femtanyl ...
